First off I apologize for the fact that I'm writing this at 1:30 in the morning so it may not make the most sense. Also do note that I was thinking about this a few days ago so things may not seem as clear as they did to me a few days ago....

and with that being said....

I was speaking with my mother at the time that I had a sudden epiphany. She was preparing a bunch of fancy glass serving dishes that she was going to be using to bring a prepared dish in to work for some event. And I questioned why she was using one of the bazillion sets that we had that usually don't get taken out except for holidays. I was also brought to remember why we have so many of the stupid things. But her answer just made me laugh at how the human minds work. How people tend to "show off" and it's not just the women that do this. But she said that she was bringing a dish for a party and that she always prepared things the "right" way.

I was brought to reflect on the idea that when there is a 'right' way it usually means that there's a 'wrong' way. Or for the smartasses out there, there is a 'left' way. haha very clever..... anyways. This concept made me ponder because I know for a fact that not everyone is as... screwed up... in their priorities as my family seems to be. Where as we have enough fancy dinnerware to waltz into an army base and serve the entire camp at the same time all stored in our little house of a family of 6. Not many other people go to such great lengths and are completely fine with paper plates and a metal serving bowl. I also thought about foreign countries that don't really even have dishes. They weave leaves together to eat off of, or carve out a log into a shape that in English is called a Bowl.

So I laughed at the idea that the concept of right and wrong was based off a society standard that would cause people to judge and point fingers at an outsider who didn't follow these said society customs. Or even point fingers at the family who I would consider as smarter as they saved their money instead of buying silver plated, or crystal glass dinnerware and actually used the money to buy food that could actually support one of the basic needs that the family members need. Besides.. who needs food to look good... it's all going to the same place in the end, and quite frankly it looks like crap when you are done with it.... Literally.

So instead of buying enough food to feed the family one would spend that money to buy expensive dishes to make the food look nice and not be able to buy enough food to actually feed the people all because the Society deemed that this method of nice looking food is the 'right' way...

.......Excuse me while I go find a log to carve myself a bowl.....
